Ronald E Ray has an outstanding record of achievement in both public and private sectors. From 1959 to 1980 he served in the U.S. Army as a battalion commander at Fort Bragg, NC; as an operations and training officer at the John F. Kennedy Center for Military Assistance; and as a platoon leader in Vietnam during two combat tours. He is a recipient of the United States military's highest decoration—the Medal of Honor—for his actions in the Vietnam War. He was also awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, the Army Commendation Medal, and a Purple Heart. He also served as U.S. European Command advisor to the armed forces of Norway, Italy and Turkey and was Commander of a Special Forces (Green Beret) Battalion. In addition, he is a past president of the Congressional Medal of Honor Society.

From 1974 to 1975 he served as Special Assistant to the Secretary of Commerce, and during 1989-1993 he served as Assistant Secretary for Human Resources and Administration at the Department of Veterans Affairs. As Assistant Secretary, he was a key executive in the second largest and one of the most complex federal agencies with a workforce of over 260,000 ($33 billion budget, 172 medical centers).

Today, Mr. Ray is the CEO of Ray Group International, LLC. (RGI), a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Business (SDVOB). RGI’s key strengths include extensive VA, private-sector, and international healthcare experience. RGI’s leadership has worked with VA and VHA for 2 decades on numerous projects and positions, and have established the business as a foundation and leader in innovation and more importantly, sustainable innovation in private sector and government health care, visualizations and modeling. In addition, RGI provides on-going support to VistA and HealtheVet architecture, and launch of the OI&T Process Modeling Center of Excellence.  RGI provides extensive healthcare services and products to clients in markets in the United States as well as Eastern Europe. Current projects and consulting assignments include analysis of market conditions, projection of market demand on services, aligning delivery systems, and managing and critical communications with targeted audiences on healthcare, IT, and business issues. Additional practice areas include software design and communications tools in addition to support services for e-learning and process management.

Mr. Ray is Executive Advisor to Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC), a top ten software company with over 150 offices in 30 countries.

Mr. Ray is a member of the White House Fellows Association, Congressional Medal of Honor Society, Omicron Delta Kappa, Legion of Valor, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion.
